Installation of “White Out” in SEFA’s New York City location White Out in Design Arts Daily
Opening Thursday, December 2, 6-8pm: White Out, featuring works by Karin Bruckner, Rachel Burgess & Katherin Curci
White Out features mixed-media monotypes on paper by Karin Bruckner, monoprints by Rachel Burgess and photorealistic, charcoal drawings by Katherine Curci. The Gallery will host an Artist Reception, featuring live music by NYC-based Jazz band The Shrinks, on Thursday, December 2, 6-8PM.
The artists selected for White Out characterize Winter in distinct ways. Bruckner’s layering of cool blues and delicate greys refer to Winter’s limited sun and frigid weather, while Burgess’ prints present and re-present the Piscataqua River and surrounding scenes in fleeting January sun or in the moments right before sunrise. Curci’s landscapes offer the silent stillness of winter, and turn leafless trees and half-moons into protagonists.
