Molly Barnes “Collector Talk” at SEFA

Molly Barnes gave a lively, warm, funny and informative “Collector Talk” at the Gallery on Monday evening. Highlights included tales of how she met Bill de Kooning, and why she nearly turned John Baldessari away when he first walked into her gallery so many decades ago.

 

About Molly:

Part of the Los Angeles art scene for many decades, Molly launched the careers of many artists, including John Baldessari, Gronk, Mark Kostabi and Robert Cottingham. She has written 3 books, includingHow to Get Hung, A Practical Guide for Emerging Artists, and is currently working on a book about de Kooning. Molly hosted a radio show on art at several radio stations in Los Angeles, and continues to run the Brown Bag art talks, featuring interviews with artists, critics, dealers and collectors, held every six weeks at the Roger Smith Hotel, NYC.
