Susan Eley Fine Art is pleased to announce a panel discussion with artists present for our current exhibition Talking Threads<\/em><\/a>. The show is curated by Karlyn Benson\u2014a former Interim Curator and Exhibitions Manager at The Dorsky Museum at SUNY New Paltz\u2014who is currently based in Beacon, New York.<\/p>\n

Talking Threads<\/i><\/a>\u00a0features seven artists who create narratives using textiles in a variety of ways. Sewing, quilting, weaving and embroidery have long been used to communicate information, with almost every culture having some sort of textile tradition to tell the stories of their society. The artists in\u00a0Talking Threads<\/i><\/a>\u00a0are part of a growing movement in contemporary art that utilizes fabric and fiber to experiment with unconventional processes, push traditional mediums in new directions and explore personal histories. The artists included are Eozen Agopian, Melissa Dadourian, Ana Maria Farina, Courtney Puckett, Padma Rajendran, Richard Saja and Hanna Washburn.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will be on view at SEFA Hudson through May 12, 2024. We invite you all to come see the show and to the panel discussion! This artist talk will be held at the Gallery at 433 Warren Street on Sunday, May 5th beginning at 3PM. Benson will speak with the artists about their techniques and inspirations for these amazing textile artworks.<\/p>\n
