Susan Eley Fine Art is pleased to\u00a0present Episode #6 of our Artists About Artists<\/a>\u00a0YouTube series in which\u00a0Francie Hester interviews Rachel Burgess.\u00a0In this conversation, Burgess speaks in depth about\u00a0her artist process, the Piscataqua River\u00a0in Maine that serves as her primary inspiration, the technique of monotype printmaking\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n

Our Artists About Artists<\/a> series came about when a SEFA-represented artist\u00a0approached us with one simple yet brilliant idea: “Hey, why don’t we get SEFA’s roster of artists to interview other artists?”\u00a0By recording these talks, we want to introduce another element to the\u00a0experience of viewing art. We hope to illuminate\u00a0our artists’ thought processes and\u00a0how and why they make their creative choices.\u00a0Who better to interview our artists than art-appreciators and artists themselves?<\/p>\n

A series\u00a0of work by\u00a0Burgess is currently on\u00a0view as a part of\u00a0SEFA Hudson’s Ingrained<\/a>.<\/em><\/span><\/span>\u00a0Her monotypes are featured alongside sculptures by Jared Abner, and\u00a0the exhibition is on view through November 13, 2022.<\/p>\n

Abner\u2019s and Burgess\u2019s works in this exhibition are similarly ingrained with growth and memory. Whether presented as dimensional wood structures or rendered on refined paper sheets, the artists\u2019 works reflect the essence of nature and its potential to be interpreted and transformed by the human hand.<\/p>\n
