{"id":1490,"date":"2018-05-07T17:52:09","date_gmt":"2018-05-07T17:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.susaneleyfineart.com\/news\/?p=1490"},"modified":"2018-08-06T19:36:15","modified_gmt":"2018-08-06T19:36:15","slug":"james-isherwood-awarded-fellowship-by-vcca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.susaneleyfineart.com\/news\/?p=1490","title":{"rendered":"James Isherwood Awarded Fellowship by VCCA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SEFA\u00a0artist, James Isherwood, has recently been awarded a fellowship by the <a href=\"http:\/\/vcca.com\/main\/about-vcca\"><strong>Virginia Center for the Creative Arts<\/strong> <\/a>(VCCA).\u00a0 Located in Amherst, Virginia near\u00a0the Blue Ridge Mountains, James will be among 25 Fellows focusing on\u00a0individual creative projects this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Falls River, Massachusetts, James graduated with a BFA from Parsons School of Design in 1993.\u00a0 Now\u00a0based in Brooklyn, James&#8217;s\u00a0current series of work\u00a0represents\u00a0generic images of barns that combine formal abstract painting with drawing, and focus on the interaction of geometry, color, and texture\u2014the latter achieved in as many as 100 layers on a single painting in a process of layering, sanding, and imprinting objects.\u00a0\u00a0Using the simple geometry of the rural framework, James\u00a0explores the\u00a0subtle changes in space, color relationships and developing structures.
